Commander Gene Cernan was also the last to reenter the moon module, with his Speedmaster reference ST105.003 on his watch, and he remains the last person to walk on its surface in 2017. He died on January 16. That’s why this Omega Speedmaster Apollo 17 45th anniversary is also named “toward Tribute to Gene Cernan.”

On the inside, there was no surprise, either, as the Speedmaster Apollo 17 45th Anniversary has been equipped with an 1861 movement, the iconic Lemania CAM operated chronograph movement that has been Speedy for nearly 50 years (prior to the 861 version). You don’t have to worry about it, it’s a perfectly reliable watch that’s durable. One thing to note is that there are sapphire crystals on the dial, not the Hesalite (Plexiglas crystal) in the standard lunar table. This is a common feature in the latest limited edition.
