Bulova Watches Accutron Kirkwood Watch

Bulova Watches and Accutron Watches

Recently, Bulova Watches has introduced its new Kirkwood dive watch. There is a “Bulova Accutron” writing on the dial. This is very confusing even for the watch enthusiasts.  Most people believe that this is due to the brand’s geopositioning in between Japanese and American markets. Furthermore, the Accutron is a separate watch brand, just owned by Bulova. However, Bulova is also a Japanese brand(part of Citizen Group). So according to American branding system, it is indeed rare to put two brands together on the dial. Actually, we can say the “Bulova Accutron” is the global luxury brand of the Bulova Corporation. Finally, indeed it is.

Bulova Watches Accutron dial

Reviewing the new watch, I like the concise temperament it featured. Look at the dial, you can’t find anything superfluous. The daring design of markers and tapered hands offer an exceptional readability as well as an excellent match to the brown embossed wave-pattern dial. There is an on-dial aperture at 12 o’clock and exhibition case back so we are allowed to admire two different decorated views of its 26-jewel self-winding, mechanical movement. An anti-reflective sapphire protects the dial. There is also no glare on the crystal.

There is an essential unidirectional rotating bezel on the case. Furthermore, the hands and markers are luminous. This gives the watch a true sports look. The screw-down crown and screw-back case confirm an unwavering reliability. As a result, the water resistance is up to 100 meters. The case and lugs are made of stainless steel rose gold ion plated. The new Bulova watches comes with a durable black polyurethane strap. There are other editions available in stainless steel finish with black dial and strap. Two stainless steel bracelet versions with the blue or silver dial.

Conclusion for this Bulova Watches

I personally don’t like the rubber straps at all. This one comes with a rubber strap. Although there is an embossed Bulova Watches logo on the strap, it definitely does not suit my tastes. I liked the overall look and stability of the watch though. What do you think about the design? Do you think the open heart dial is fancy with a diver watch? Please write your comments below.

This new fancy watch was available since 2010. And the estimated price is in the $700 – $1,300 range. I believe this is a quite good affordable diver watch if you like to watch the mechanical movement tick inside.

Will I buy this one? Probably no! Since I am not a movement watcher kind of guy, I think I would spend my money on a better and cheaper diver watch like Seiko SKX007. I had reviewed that one also. You may like to take a look at that post too.
